WHY IS RELIGION SUCH A FAILURE IN SOUTH AFRICA? ...

Even the greatest Christian or Muslim fanatic will have to admit that their brands of religion are no cure for all the ills besetting SA.

In fact, quite the opposite is true.

It seems that these religions actually play a major role in the systematic breakdown of all moral fabric in society.

A mouthful indeed but undeniably with more than a whiff of truth to it.

    But why?

    Let’s consider ...

The most basic problem of these religions is that they are basically flawed.

In other words — they don’t stand on any inherent truth that can be seriously established by the curious seeker of truth.

The old saying goes something like: “If horses could paint their gods, the gods will look like ... well ... horses!”

The same is true of the said religions which developed 2 000 years in an already troubled spot of the world namely the Middle East. Please note that these troubles have continued unabated since then begging the question how these religions can even hope to play a positive role anywhere else in the world?

Notwithstanding such simple logic, these religions did spread, contaminating a large part of the world with their cruelty, ignorance and total disregard for Truth.

Bottom line is that we, ourselves, are to blame for accepting it and refusing to open our eyes to the Truth which is readily available to be discovered within each of us.

Instead we prefer to be emotionally enslaved. To rely, trust and believe in words that were thought out 2 000 years ago by some pretty ignorant and prejudiced human beings.

This fact is readily available for those who wish to open their eyes even for a single second but indoctrination and blind believes have pushed out pure spirituality.

And this is ultimately the greatest evil of said religions — greater than all their other evils combined. Greater than the War on Women, the War on science, knowledge and progress, the countless religious wars and massacres, The Inquisition, etc, etc ad nauseam. Greater than all these is the fact that they have cut ourselves off from ourselves and everyone else — turning people into blind fools.

    This is the ultimate “sin”.

We have lost touch with ourselves ... our roots and the Future!

    François Williams
